Matteo Hager

Matteo was born in 2003 into a Czech-American family. He started to play the violin at the age of four at the ZUŠ Ilji Hurník in Prague, then continued with prof. Jiří Fišer at the Gymnasium and Music School city ​​of Prague. He is currently a student of prof. Rodney Friend at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he received a talent scholarship. Matteo is the holder of a number of important awards from Czech and foreign competitions (J. Micka International Violin Competition, Václav Hudeček Academy, Manhattan International Music Competition, France Music Competition, International Music Competition in France, Augustin Aponte 2022 in Spain), completed masterclasses with Augustin Hadelich , Jan Mráček, Ivan Ženaty, Dalibor Karvay and other virtuosos and performed alongside violinists Václav Hudeček, Josef Špaček, cellist Tomáš Jamník and other important musicians.

As a soloist, he performed at international festivals (Dvořák Prague, Festivals of Music or Pardubické Spring) and under the baton of Tomáš Netopil, Robert Kružík, Radek Baborák, Marko Šedivý, Chuhei Iwasaki or Jan Kučera, he collaborated, for example, with the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, the Symphony Orchestra of . the City of Prague FOK, the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra or the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic. In addition to playing the violin, Matteo also composes. His composition Threnodie for violin and orchestra, which is dedicated to the victims of the war in Ukraine, was performed at the Dvořákova Prague 2022 festival and at the Svátky hudby 2022 festival in Rudolfinum.
