Moussa Chissokho – Jan Galega Brönnimann – Omri Hason
The trio composed of Moussa Cissokho (chora, vocals), Jan Galega Brönnimann (bass clarinet, soprano saxophone), Omri Hason (oriental percussion) creates a tension between traditional and modern music from Africa and Europe. The sparkling sounds of the kora (African harp with 24 strings) are complemented by the warm tone of the bass clarinet and oriental percussion. Moussa Cissokho hails from Senegal and is an extremely talented kora player, singer and songwriter. He was born and raised in a well-known traditional griot family (griots = wandering singers and storytellers) and learned from his father from an early age. Griots travel throughout the country and participate in traditional ceremonies. Moussa Cissokho now lives in Austria and works with many different musicians from Africa and Europe. The Swiss bass clarinetist Jan Galega Brönnimann is already well known here from his band Brink Man Ship, but in the past he also collaborated with personalities such as Nils Petter Molvaer, Sidsel Endresen, Pierre Favre, Eivind Aarset, Aly Keïta or Kenny Werner. Omri Hason is an Israeli percussionist who trained with Iranian drum master Djamchid Chemirani and is one of the most respected players in the field.
