Never Sol

Fragile songwriting, infectious melancholy and a bewitching voice full of exposed emotions, this is the Never Sol project of singer and keyboardist Sára Vondrášková. She made herself known for the first time with the song Lay Down from director David Ondříček's crime drama In the Shadows. Sára Vondrášková studied jazz singing at the Ježek Conservatory, which she applied to because of her love for Diana Krall. Today, she draws more from contemporary female indie-pop performers such as Bat For Lashes, Regina Spektor or Cat Power. “They are female singers who are trying to find their own language and cough up some outdated ideas about how a song should be sung and how a song should sound,” she explains.

In her work, she combines strong melodies and lyrics with acoustic instruments (piano, she also played with an orchestra), but also with electronics. The release of the debut album Under Quiet was followed by a reissue of the album on the prestigious German label Denovali. Never Sol has been nominated for numerous music awards and has participated in the Red Bull Music Academy. She collaborated with a number of Czech musicians: Floex, Jan P. Muchov, she also repeatedly collaborates with the Elpida choir. Never Sol represented the Czech Republic, for example, at the monthly workshop Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo, at the end of 2016 they composed music for Jana Burkiewicz's theater performance Divočina.
