Phil Shöenfelt
Phil Shoenfelt is a British singer, guitarist, composer and writer who has lived in Prague since 1995. His name is immediately associated with three bands: Southern Cross (Prague); Fatal Shore (Berlin); and Dim Locator (Berlin).
In the second half of the 1970s, before moving to New York in 1979, he belonged to the punk scene in Manchester and London. In New York he played with several punk and post-punk bands such as Disturbed Furniture and Khmer Rouge. Khmer Rouge regularly played at the legendary club CBGB's and performed as an opening act with artists such as Nico, The Clash, Alan Vega and Billy Idol, on their US tour. In the mid-1980s Shoenfelt returned to Great Britain and accompanied Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds on their two UK tours as an opening act.
After moving to Prague (1995) he put together his own a group with former members of the band Tichá Dohoda, Phil Shoenfelt & Southern Cross. The band has released four studio albums to date: Blue Highway, Dead Flowers For Alice, Ecstatic and Paranoia.com. The last CD released was the live album The Bell Ringer, celebrating twenty years of the band's existence.
In 1997, Shoenfelt founded together with Bruno Adams and Chris Hughes (both former members of Once Upon A Time) the new group Fatal Shore. They recorded three CDs - Fatal Shore, Free Fall and Real World - and toured extensively in Europe and the US until Adams succumbed to colon cancer in 2009.
< p>Together with Australian musicians Chris Hughes and Dave Allen, Shoenfelt founded a new band Dim Locator in 2011. Based in Berlin, Dim Locator play heavy, repetitive, riff-heavy based rock music, inspired by krautrock bands of the 70s, such as Can, Neu and La Düsseldorf.In addition to the aforementioned projects, Phil Shoenfelt has also been collaborating with the blues rock band Band of Heysek since 2020. Together they recorded nine tracks for the album Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo, which was released in 2023.
