Rukshana Triem

Supporting African businesses isn’t just an initiative for Rukshana Triem—it’s part of her life’s story. A former refugee and immigrant from Mozambique, Rukshana’s journey to the United States in the 1990s taught her firsthand that community can be the bridge between survival and success.

Today, as CEO of Women’s Lifestyle Coaching, she carries that lesson forward by helping women turn past challenges into stepping stones for their dreams. Through group coaching, nature retreats, online programs, and supportive communities, Rukshana empowers women to rise as leaders and first-time speakers—proving that when women share their stories, whole communities are lifted.

Her belief in collective impact also drives her work as founder of the Firmina Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building schools in Mozambique and expanding into Malawi and Zambia. Each project is fueled by the idea that education grows stronger when communities come together to build, support, and sustain it.

That same spirit shines in the annual African Fashion Show in Portland, OR—an event Rukshana organizes not only to raise funds for education, but also to spotlight African designers, entrepreneurs, and businesses. It’s a living example of what happens when culture, creativity, and community unite for a shared purpose.

With a Bachelor of Science in Human Development, years of work as an early childhood teacher, trainer, and mentor, and as the creator of the Confidence Speakers Catalyst program, Rukshana has consistently created spaces where women and communities thrive together.

An author of two books, including Living from Strength and Faith: A Rough Hike from Refugee to Success, Rukshana believes stories are one of the most powerful tools of transformation. “Every time I see a woman rise—whether launching a business, speaking on stage, or overcoming personal struggles—I’m reminded that success is never an individual achievement. It’s always a community victory.”

When she’s not leading, Rukshana spends time with her husband and children or invites women into the outdoors for hikes, backpacking trips, and adventures that spark connection and renewal.
