Ghatam Giridhar Udupa, Bharghava Halambi and K Raja are Indian musicians who live in Bangalore and perform around the world. Wacław Zimpel is a classically trained clarinet virtuoso and is making a significant impact on the scene of improvised music. His projects often refer to the traditions and rituals of many different cultures. This project is a meeting of two worlds. The first is India's oldest musical form, Carnatic music. It is based on a very delicate rhythmic-melodic system. The second is the European tradition. The clarinet parts are based on Indian rhythms. Accompanied by percussion instruments, they oscillate between Western melodies and the raga system - the Indian scales that form the basis of the compositions. The repertoire includes traditional Carnatic music as well as original compositions.
