SuSeLi Design -

Leslie Melnyk and Suman Pant are the creators behind the designs and innovations at SuSeLi LLC, a natural fiber textile company. The couple started the company in 2023 with Fairtrade Tibetan Hand Knotted Rugs from Nepal where the couple lived for 8 years together. Now, SuSeLi is also developing kombucha s.c.o.b.y. pellicle as a textile for traditional and novel uses, such as fashion, upcycled food, or micronutrient fortified soil cover in agriculture.

Leslie has a background in brewing and crop science, and Suman has a background in experiential education and public policy.

With the idea of creating an Oregon Textile from waste products, the two started investigating ideas surrounding the natural fiber biproducts of growing regional industries like hemp or kombucha in 2024. With the help of Portland State University's Professor Alison Heryer for the space and guidance, and Happy Mountain Kombucha as a supplier, SuSeLi started it's residency at PSU on July 29 2025, and is learning week by week.
