The Cure

The Cure is an English rock band founded in Crawley, West Sussex, in 1976. The band has experimented with several vocalists, guitarists and Robert Smith, the main songwriter, is the only permanent member of the band. The Cure began releasing music in the 1970s with their debut album Three Imaginary Boys (1979); with this album and together with other singles, the band entered the post-punk and new wave scene, which expanded at the same time as the rise of the punk rock revolution in the UK. After the release of the album Pornography in 1982, the future of the band was unclear. Smith wanted to change the band's reputation from grim to more pop. Songs like Let's Go to Bed (1982), Just Like Heaven (1987), Lovesong (1989), and Friday I'm in Love (1992) helped the group move into a more mainstream part of the music scene.
