Troum
Troum is a dark ambient/drone duo from Bremen in Germany, founded in 1997 by former members of Maeror three Stefan Knappe and Martin Gitschel. Their name comes from the old German word for the "dream", which perfectly captures their vision of music as a gateway to hypnagogical conditions, depths of collective subconscious and archetypal space of dreams. TROUM sound is created without digital samples or synthesizers, instead relies on organic sources such as guitars, bass, accordion, balalajka, flute, harmonica, gongs, field recordings and other acoustic objects. The result is their characteristic "Tiefenmusik" - deep music oscillating between Dark Ambient, Drone and Transcendental noise.
In addition to extensive discography, Trumm is also known for its numerous collaborations with artists such as Raison D'être, Inade and Bad Sector. Their Transformation Tapes compilation, released on the occasion of the 20th anniversary, contained the reinterpretation of their works from leading personalities of the international experimental scene. In recent years, they have returned to older materials with widespread re -editions such as symbiosis and de aeris in sublunaria influx, confirming the timeless quality of their music. Their latest ACouasme album (2025, Cold Spring) examines even denser and more industrially tuned palette, film and ritual, balancing between fascination and fear. And gongs - and create ritual intensity. They performed at major events such as DRONE RECORDS Festival in Bremen, Truelin Festival in Vienna, Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig, and offered Swingfest in Essen. Each concert is a deep immersion in the collective subconscious and transcendent spheres, confirming the status of Trumm as one of the most important names on the global drone/ambient scene even after more than two decades.
