The Cape Verde community is rich in history, culture and resilience. Yet an important part of this history often remains undisputed. The colonial past of the Cape Verde islands, and its impact on the Diaspora, is rarely recognized in its full extent. Continued Cabo Verde, an initiative of Cape Verde Rotterdammers, organizes five panel discussions to highlight the history of the community, connect the past with the future, to break silences and offer space for a in -depth intergenerational dialogue between 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation of Cape Verdeans. The project has five "anchors" in the form of conversation themes, and is designed to break the silence around the colonial past and to create a stronger sense of connectedness and identity within the community and to all other communities. For the Cape Verde Community, Rotterdam is the 11th island of Cape Verde. A home far from home, which played an important role in the independence of Cape Verde, now 50 years ago. And also on that relationship we also like to zoom in in one of our sessions.
