The Department of Art Education, Faculty of Education, Masaryk University in Brno and Galerie TIC invite you to a moderated discussion on the topic:๐บArt Museums in Central Europe โ Political Influences on Exhibition Programs, Audience Engagement, and Education.
The roundtable will focus on the impact of political pressures that significantly influence or completely alter the operations of selected gallery institutions in Central Europe. ๐ The discussion will address changes in communication strategies, exhibition programming, and educational work. In many of these institutions, education and public communication are undergoing the most significant transformations, often being censored and controlled by institutional leadership, founding bodies, and political representatives.
We are also witnessing phenomena of self-censorship, where staff members themselves avoid politically sensitive or controversial topics, or conceal them behind conformist titles and descriptions that do not stir public emotions or attention. ๐
Some of these institutions have faced fresh political pressures in the recent past, others are currently in the midst of it, and some are at risk of or have already stabilized after a challenging period. The conference aims to offer perspectives from current and former employees on how the situation has evolved, to share experiences, and to discuss strategies for coping with these challenges. It will also present the current state and developments at the ๐๐ก๐ค๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ก ๐๐๐ก๐ก๐๐ง๐ฎ (๐๐๐) in Bratislava ๐ธ๐ฐ, experiences from staff of the ๐๐ช๐๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐ช๐จ๐๐ช๐ข in Budapest (๐๐) ๐ญ๐บ, the ๐๐ช๐ฏ๐๐ช๐ข ๐๐ฏ๐ฉ๐ช๐ ๐ in ลรณdลบ (๐๐) ๐ต๐ฑ, and Ukrainian curator
