What we call “nature” is often anything but natural.
The talk explores tectonic landscapes — environments reshaped by both subtle and drastic human interventions. It examines how engineering, extraction, and architecture transform not only the ground beneath us but also the entire landscape above — its forms, ecologies, and ways of being. Architecture here becomes both a tool and a witness of these transformations, revealing how the built environment participates in shaping new artificial natures — hybrid terrains where design, technology, and ecology are deeply intertwined.
To, čo nazývame „prírodou“, je často všetko, len nie prirodzené. Prednáška skúma tektonické krajiny – prostredia pretvorené jemnými aj drastickými ľudskými zásahmi. Skúma, ako inžinierstvo, ťažba a architektúra transformujú nielen zem pod nami, ale aj celú krajinu nad nami – jej formy, ekológie a spôsoby bytia. Architektúra sa tu stáva nástrojom aj svedkom týchto transformácií a odhaľuje, ako sa zastavané prostredie podieľa na formovaní nových umelých charakterov – hybridných terénov, kde sú dizajn, technológia a ekológia hlboko prepojené.
Prednášková séria Brown Lecture Series vznikla s finančnou podporou projektu KEGA 002VŠVU-4/2025.
