Anglické country tance v Grandiose
English country dances at Grandios
Event by: Anglické country tance s Pávem
Location: Tančírna Hostivař, z.s., Selská 3, Praha 15
About event
Come and dance English country dances. We dance across the centuries:
- dances from Mr. Playford's prints The Dancing Master (1651-1728)
- dances from the 18th century and the Regency period
- revival in the twentieth century, dances by authors such as Pat Shaw
- contemporary newly written dances
English country dances are primarily social. The dances are written for groups of two or more pairs of dancers, and consist of a number of spatial figures such as a turn, a wheel, a grinder, etc.
The dances do not need to be learned in advance, nor do you need to remember them! We will first go through each dance without music, we will show and explain more complex or new figures.
Do you have no or only minimal experience with country dancing? Never mind! Come already for the 18:00 class, the first class is for you. We will explain the basic concepts, go through the most common figures and steps.
It is not necessary to come in pairs!
What to wear? We ask for dancing shoes without or with only a small heel (or dancing shoes), and for clothes that would be closer to social than sports.
The entrance fee is 200 CZK per person, in cash on the spot
