Armand Memorial 2024
Event by: Ruigoord
Location: Ruigoord, Ruigoord 76, Amsterdam - Westpoort
About event
This afternoon is dedicated to Herman van Loenhout, better known as Armand, the protest singer and Ruigoord trophy holder (2009), who died in 2015, and who is still a source of inspiration for many, inside and outside Ruigoord. Armand is mainly known as a sixties icon for his monster hit 'Am I too minus' from 1966, but he has written many more beautiful songs. During this memorial, artists inspired by Armand pay tribute to one of the most idiosyncratic and critical minds our country has known in recent (music) history. Lest we forget!
Program
Van Piekeren | Jan van Piekeren is a name that is increasingly finding resonance in the Dutch music scene. Together with his talented musical partners, guitarist and composer Johan Fransen and accordionist/flutist Bruno Rombouts, he knows how to attract packed houses throughout the Netherlands. These men are the standard bearers of the better Dutch pop music. A Van Piekeren performance is an experience: a unique mix of juicy stories, quick humor and beautiful songs. His lived-in voice and thoughtful lyrics give every song an extra layer of depth. The audience is not only treated to great music, but also to a show full of surprises and funny moments. On October 27, Van Piekeren will pay tribute to Armand.
“De Calle” | Pascal Audenaert, or “De Calle”, has a great passion in his life: cabaret. Like a troubadour, he travels to cultural cafés, festivals and the better pubs in Belgium and the Netherlands, to delight the audience with his guitar and all those beautiful lyrics of yesteryear. His own super idol Armand often sounds through the speakers. Beautiful poetic songs or protest songs, with an opinion but full of lyricism. 'De Calle' is a regular guest during the Memorial and this year he will delight the audience with many Armand songs.
