Bruchgold und Koralle

Jörg Hochapfel - comp, p, g, melodica Johannes Schleiermacher - ts, bs, fl James Banner - db, e-b Max Andrzejewski - dr, Glockenspiel

The eccentric-beautiful quartet “Bruchgold & Koralle”, with the illustrious fellow musicians Johannes Schleiermacher (Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers, Training), James Banner (Usine, Voices of Berlin, Practically Married) and Max Andrzejewski (Training, Hütte), plays my adventurous pieces and manages the - actually self-evident - balancing act between the deepest melancholy and the most bizarre humor.

They wander like a hummingbird and in a very peculiar way between old jazz and half-silk Exotica, abstract improvisation and strange but outrageously catchy melodies back and forth.

Feldman meets Clayderman meets Brötzmann, to put it quite cheekily.

(Jörg Hochapfel)

The double LP “Bruchgold & Koralle” will be released on October 1st, 2023 on the Cologne label Klaeng Records (Klaeng Records 072) published (https://klaengrecords.de/de/vinyl/bruchgold-koralle-vinyl.html)

A few reviews:
"I imagine it’s a blast watching these four careen through these raucous, often schizophrenic tunes when they play live."

(Peter Margasak)

"These four colorful dogs have a highly entertaining Double album produced that presents and celebrates the current facets of the Berlin jazz scene in a tongue-in-cheek manner like no other in recent years."

(Rolf Thomas, Jazzthetik)

"This quartet is where the legacy and the future of music come together on an expedition."

(Jörg Konrad, Cult conspiracy)
