Jazzkeller 69 e.V.

The Jazzkeller 69 e. V. emerged from the jazz activity at the Treptow district culture center. Jazz concerts have been taking place there regularly since the end of 1969. Since the workload could no longer be managed by the employees of the district culture center alone, they involved jazz fans from the regular audience in organizing the concerts from 1973 onwards. The Jazz Active remained a constant as the “voice of the audience” while the employees of the district culture center changed. With the political change, it became necessary to found an association, the Jazzkeller 69 e.V.

With regular concerts, we want to promote Berlin musicians, introduce new things and dare to experiment. We would like to offer the musicians a paid podium for modern and avant-garde jazz and give the audience an inexpensive opportunity to follow current musical developments and to experience different sides of the musicians' musical work.
