About event

The housing festival Cez Prah traditionally commemorates the phenomenon of housing cultural events of the 70s and 80s of the last century, and every year important names or topics associated with Czechoslovak dissent appear in the program. The festival takes place in a private environment in several places in Bratislava: in the Rómer house cafe, in the Flatgallery premises, as well as in an apartment at Strakova 1 or Námestí SNP 16.

The festival is a celebration of freedom - it is framed by Day of Imprisoned Writers (15.11.) and Day of the Fight for Freedom and Democracy (17.11.). Space is given, for example, to discussions about the role of women in dissent or critical publications mapping this period, etc. However, the apartment also currently plays an important cultural role, and therefore an equally important component of the festival is to present contemporary progressive art forms that fit into the festival's dramaturgy. In the current year, for example, a houseplant swap with the writer Marek Hudec, a meditative reading of Slovak haiku, a debate on housing as a human right with Barbora Bírová, a lecture by prof. Foletti and much more.
