About event
The original Liechtenstein Palace was rebuilt into a theater at the beginning of the 17th century. It is the oldest theater building in Central Europe.
in the middle of the 14th century. The parcel on the corner of Zelný market and Kapuchín Square belonged since the second quarter of the 15th century of the Liechtenstein family, which sold the parcel to the Brno village. After 1600, the tavern was repaired and put into operation. A new, later called large taverna, which the city offered to accommodate and meals rare visits, was established. In 1634, the town bought a secondary house, called "small taverna" , whose reconstruction and interconnection with the existing building, a one -storey closed corner complex with accommodation and restaurant space, farm buildings and large courts were created. It took place at the theater in Tavern. In 1734–35 the building was rebuilt, raised by 2 floors and modified into a new whole. In 1735, the stonemason František Stránský and the decorative entrance portal of the building from the Green Market with the plastic feature of Brno was complemented by statues. The building succumbed to two fires, which occurred in 1785 and 1786. At the beginning of the 19th century, the devastated building was used as a hospital and an improvised military hostel. Security and operational standards of the 20th century in the 50s required technical reconstruction. The unsatisfactory building continued to deteriorate until 1993, when it had to be closed for the emergency state. The most obvious transformations are noticeable in the elements of the restoration of the editor hall, now called Mozart's Hall. Another change is the opening of the courtyard with arcade gallery, whose transparent roofing created an internal covered atrium. The transformations are also in the opening of other usable areas, but also in the emphasis on the details of the original masonry and, last but not least, in the use of modern building materials, conceptually combined with the original architecture. The completion of this reconstruction was the painting decoration of the walls of the Mozart Hall, the vaults of the café and the artistic terracco in the atrium, which are the work of the artist Petr Kvíčala. The concept of newly inserted modern elements contrasting with the historical structure was carried out by the company d.n.n.h., V.o.s. .
