Dodo Gombár: V reči stromu

Dod Gombár's play was created as part of the Green Drama project, aimed at exploring the possibilities of eco-dramaturgy in contemporary theatre. The author compares the text to meditation and brings out the important theme of coexistence between man and everything that surrounds him in the natural environment. It brings an intimate and at the same time universal story of a man and "his" tree - an old apple tree, next to which he grew up in his parents' house in the countryside, surrounded by an orchard. The perspective turns – we don't just follow what man says about nature, but we listen empathetically and delicately to what the world of trees would say about us if we let them speak. Against the background of the decaying relationship of a married couple in crisis and the attempt to save it, the relationship of people to a devastated country, subordinated often quite insensitively to our needs, is reflected. Let's try to stop in time for a moment, delve into words, sounds, images and explore our own deeply embedded roots. Together we face the challenge of how to grasp the climate crisis and try to turn it around in our favor, not to despair and look for our own way to hope for life in close contact with nature, with which we are organically connected.

After the performance, there will be a discussion Climate crisis and everyday coping with environmental grief and anxiety.

Moderator: Veronika Kolejáková (playwright of the production)

Discussants: Miroslava Šudila Žilinská (psychologist, founder of the Psychology for the Climate initiative) and Zuza Fialová (sociologist, Climate Coalition)

The effects of the climate crisis are no longer a marginal topic. The purpose of the discussion with female experts in the field of psychology and sociology is to name the increasingly frequent phenomena that many of us accept in our daily lives across generations and become the subject of public debate and often conflicts. The conversation about the causes and possibilities of managing the effects of the crisis will offer common solutions and ways to deal with communication barriers, feelings of frustration, fear or anger.
