Freekind. + special guest: SJU

Freekind. will perform on November 2 at Café V lese. And along with them the experimental musicians of SJU.

It didn't take long before the "protégés" of the prestigious art school Kunstuniversität Graz decided to join forces and pay tribute to the golden era of hip-hop, while at the same time transforming their nostalgia into more contemporary sound. We are talking about the musical duo Freekind., behind which is the Croatian pianist and singer Sara Ester Gredelj and the Slovenian drummer Nina Korošak-Serčič.

For elements of R'n'B, jazz and neo-soul "sucked" with tenderness and fragility tailored to Lauryn Hill, there is a simple motto – “Be free. Be kind”. Freekind. because they do not "mate" with a complicated philosophy. Their lyrics are clear in their therapeutic message – “Stay true to yourself baby, don't worry too much about your future,” is heard on the track Made It.

Despite several DIY pre-covid efforts, only their EP debut Not Good Enough got them into the lineup of festivals such as Ljubljana's Ment or Waves Vienna. The taste of catchy grooves and intimate lyrics started with their first record was completed by their first long-playing record, which was released last summer on the Hamburg label Légère Recordings. Since Always and Forever says: "The past may have been in the bag, but there is no reason to fear until the end of life."
