About event
The former town yard is located on the Brno circuit class, which was created mainly in the second half of the 19th century as an equivalent of the famous Vienna Ringstrasse. As the name suggests, until the 19th century it was used to trade with pigs and cattle. The demise of the Brno Gate and the city fortifications in 1852 released space and could be built on the square in 1853–55 an impressive building of the historically first city rental house in Brno. The extremely valuable neo -Renaissance four -winged house with an arcade courtyard is one of the earliest documents of monumental historicizing architecture in the Habsburg monarchy. It was created according to the design of the Viennese architect Franz Fröhlich, who was inspired by the legacy of majestic Renaissance palaces, but also reflected the highest demands on the standards of modern housing. The result of his work was the building, which gives the exterior an elegantly impression, while in the interior with Mediterranean airiness and cosiness combines with romanticing details. For years, the building paid for one of the most prestigious addresses in Brno, not only because of the luxury and comfortable apartments that were in its bowels, but also thanks to its excellent location and pleasant surroundings. Since 1870, the building was the venue of lectures and meetings of members of the Nature (Natural Science) Association. In 1935–39, the Museum of the City of Brno was moved to the Municipal Court. This left the premises in 1960. Later, a district court, a dental clinic, the police and the building office worked in the house. The period after World War II was mainly associated with the gradual decline of this dominant of Šilingrov Square. The building greatly met, which eventually led to the efforts to reconstruct.
Missing funds forced the city in 2006 to sell the building to a private Spanish investor who, after thirty months, prepared a unique hotel project. Since December 2024, the hotel has now been part of the Czech Hotel Network Czech Inn Hotels.
