Observatory and planetarium on Kraví hora is a building that has been transforming and functionally changing since the beginning of the 1920s, when its construction began. The building with a lecture hall, observable and projection planetarium, which on the vault of eight meters created the illusion of the starry sky, was completed in 1959. The connection of the observatory and planetarium was created a unique combination of very specific astronomical devices that are not very common in the world. Interest in astronomical programs continued to grow, so it was decided in the early 1880s. The 20th century was decided to expand the building, the main part of which was the hall of the large planetarium. Although the new screen was purchased in 1978, its own construction began only in 1986 and the official opening of the large planetarium was only in October 1991. Not only the building, but also the program focus, personnel cast and the overall style of work. The cornerstone of this project was laid on October 7, 2009 by 16 astronauts, and Vladimír Remek - the first Czechoslovak astronaut was the personal patron. The building was designed by architect Martin Rudiš from the office of Rudiš-Rudiš architects. In 2018, a planetarium was opened with a so -called stereoscopic projection in a resolution of up to 25 million pixels per projection hemispherical surface with a diameter of 17 meters. There are only a few similarly equipped projection halls in Europe.
