About event
Iberian Waves is a festival organized by the Akropolis Palace in cooperation with the Cervantes Institute and the Camões Institute in Prague, the aim of which is to bring the wide musical diversity of the Iberian regions closer to the Czech audience. After two successful years, they will present other artists whose work ranges from traditional folk to electronica with touches and influences of specific regions. More artist names will be added gradually.
Los Sara Fontan is an experimental duo from Barcelona consisting of violinist Sara Fontán and percussionist Edi Pou. Their music combines contemporary composition, improvisation and electronics into intense, constantly changing soundscapes. Each performance is created in the present moment and moves beyond the boundaries of traditional song forms.
Fillas de Cassandra is an acclaimed Galician duo that reinterprets traditional songs in a modern context. It is based on ancient melodies and oral tradition and combines piano, percussion, electronics and polyphonic singing. From a strong feminist perspective, it connects the past with the present and brings the Galician heritage into a lively, current form.
Amorante is the musical project of the Basque multi-instrumentalist and ethnomusicologist Iban Urizar. His work is based on Basque folk traditions, which he sensitively combines with experiment, improvisation and electronics. The result is intimate and poetic performances firmly rooted in the cultural context.
Musgö is a Spanish harpist, singer and electronic composer from Andalusia. In his work, he combines harp, voice and delicate electronics, creating immersive soundscapes inspired by folk and pop. Her live performances oscillate between intimacy and experimentation, placing her among the prominent personalities of the contemporary European scene.
Nayr Faquirá is a Luso-Mozambican singer, producer and composer who has built a prominent position on the music scene over the last decade. Her work connects cultural roots with modern sound and is characterized by strong emotionality and authentic expression. The debut album Entrelinhas (2025) represents a mature and personal artistic statement moving between soul and Afrobeat. Nayr released two EPs and collaborated with important names in Lusophone music, including Selma Uamusse and Valet. An important milestone in her career is also the song Quem Tu És, the opening theme of the iconic series Morangos com Açúcar.
The festival is organized with the support of Liveurope - the first pan-European initiative supporting concert clubs in their efforts to organize concerts by emerging European artists. The Liveurope project is co-financed by the Creative Europe program of the European Union.
