"S HVIEZDOSLAV DO LAVÍC" is
an original, artistic-educational project that combines the beauty of poetry with music, aimed at supporting the development of students' culture and reviving their interest in important literary works.
The content of the project is:
A short moderated concert in which poems by great Slovak poets such as Hviezdoslav, Smrek, Rúfus, Kostra, Dilong and others will be set to music, in the interpretation of a four-member ensemble - vocals, piano, double bass and percussion instruments, where it is a quiet but lively chamber form of jazz, in top performance quality.
Interactive lecture ("How is music created and how is verse created?, What do music and poetry?, Have you heard jazzed Hviezdoslav?, Let's look for rhythm and melody in a poem...").
Rhythmic and melodic games (fun creation of simple rhythms, melodies for selected poem texts, competition for a CD album).
A game with a band (the brave can play with us on drums, double bass, or piano, it will introduce students to the issue in a simple and fun way)
The implementers of the project are four Slovak professional musicians performing under the name František Báleš ensemble, who are also experienced teachers. From the rare combination of jazz music and Slovak poetry, they released two award-winning CD albums: Sonnets (2021) - the Radio Head Awards prize for the best jazz album of the year and Básne Múzické (2023) - the public prize in the Esprit JazzAwards poll. The realization of this year's project "With Hviezdoslav do lavíc" takes place from March to December 2024.
