Za leskem Hollywoodu

The program of the evening will focus on the fate of Czech emigrants who left for new possibilities in America in a difficult life period. The music of Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Karel Boleslav Jirák, whose life career in the new homeland has connected with the work for the film industry, reminds the strength and inspiration of Czech artists brought by world culture. An exceptional event of the evening will be the Czech premiere of the song cycle Two Worlds of Contemporary American Composer Beth Rata. This cycle, based on authentic letters that her grandfather - also Czech emigrant - sent home to his family, brings an intimate testimony of the search for a new home and the preservation of roots. The letter texts were taken over by Aleš Navrátil. Together with the flute and composer Beth Ratay and pianist Ahmad Hedar, he will premiere the cycle Two Worlds. Soprano Tamara Morozová and pianist Pavel Voráček will present the song cycle of Karel Boleslav Jirák a year on the lyrics of Jaroslav Seifert. Both singers will also be complemented by the selection of Erich Wolfgang's song work.
