Anamanaguchi
Anamanaguchi is a four-people chiptune indie band that was founded in New York in 2004. Inspired by old Nintendo games like Super Mario Brothers, Zelda and Megaman, Anamanaguchi produce unique experimental tracks. In addition to traditional band instruments, the band uses old gaming hardware from the late 80s. Guitars are just as much part of the band setup at the New York band as NES or Gameboys. Singer and guitarist Peter Berkman said in an interview that their sound is influenced by video games as well as simple pop music such as Weezer, Beach Boys or Janet Jackson. The fact that Anamanaguchi also finds inspiration in Japanese music culture can quickly be seen from the previous album cover. The Chiptune Band has produced three studio albums: Dawn Metropolis (2009), Endless Fantasy (2013) and * [USA] * (2019).
