Česká filharmonie

The Czech Philharmonic has had more than a century of history, the first concert played 4 January 1896 under the baton of Antonín Dvořák himself. Soon after its foundation, the Philharmonic became the most important Czech symphony orchestra and had already built a considerable reputation on European scenes before 1 World War. The music of Czech composers is promoted by the Czech Philharmonic throughout its history, up to the present. A number of Czech and foreign personalities, such as conductors Gustav Mahler, Václav Talich, or Jiří Bělohlávek, have entered the history of the orchestra during more than one hundred and twenty years of its existence. He explained the uniqueness of the sound of the orchestra in 2016: "Ninety -nine percent of our musicians are Czechs and studied in our country. So our distinctive sound stems and we try to preserve it."
