Leo Chang
Leo is a Korean experimental musician, improviser, composer and sound artist based in New York. Leo, instructed by his temporary experience, plays with sounds, instruments, forms and social practices outside their original context. It does so by electronic sound and sound design, performance, individual and group improvisation, graphic notation and textual scores. Over the past six years, he has focused on building electronic sets derived from Korean folk practices and instruments. For example, he built an instrument where he intensifies Korean gongs (historically used in folk, shamanic and courtyard music) using converters and resonates with his voice, microphone feedback and other processed sound input.
