About Maryleen Schiltkamp
Maryleen Schiltkamp is a visual artist and live performance Painter. She studied at the Rietveld Academy and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, and exhibited worldwide, including in New York, Tokyo, St. Petersburg and Prague. Her work moves at the intersection of visual arts and music. She performed with live painting performances during concerts and festivals in London, Amsterdam and Riga, among others. A special project was her series about the symphonies of Shostakovich, which led to the British documentary The Art of the Symphony (2017), shown in Paris, The Hague and Amsterdam. Central to her live work is the collaboration with the Latvian pianist Reinis Zariņš. Together they created the concept of MusicpaintingLive, with which they performed during the Baltic Art Form, the Cēsis Arts Festival and Winter evenings on the Amstel. One of their highlights was Le Sacre du Printemps as Live Performance Art in Hanzas Perons Theater (Riga, 2023). In 2024 she initiated the Interdisciplinary project Atlantis & Other Utopias, based on her paintings, with music by Marion von Tilzer and Live Visuals from Studio De Maan.
