Martin Valihora
Martin Valihora (* May 4, 1976, Bratislava) is a Slovak percussion and percussion player.
He was born into a musical family (his father Dušan Valihora was a professional bass guitarist and his mother Jana Beláková a singer). He studied the piano in 1986-1987, when he switched to drums and started taking lessons with the Slovak drummer Olda Petráš. He studied drums and percussion at the Conservatory in Bratislava between 1990 and 1992, and continued his drumming studies at the world-famous Berklee College of Music in Boston.[1]
He played in a number of Slovak pop, rock and jazz bands. such as IMT Smile, Midi, Prúdy, Fermata, Gab Jonáš Quartet, Barflies, Deepnspace, Collegium Musicum and others. He is currently working with Japanese jazz pianist Hiromi Uehara and guesting with various performers in America.
