Michal Prokop Trio
Michal Prokop Trio, also known as Nu-Trio at the time of its founding, was formed in 1987 by the union of three long-time musical friends and bandmates, Michal Prokop, guitarist Luboš Andršt and violinist Jan Hrubé. From the very beginning, it was a project that differed in terms of repertoire and expression from Prokop's work as part of the rock group Framus Five, with a significantly greater share of improvisation, although the basic structure of the setlist had remained programmatically unchanged for years.
As a result of the unexpected loss of Luboš Andršt in 2021, the remaining members still decided to continue their activities. At that time, they invited the guitarist Pavel Marcel, former producer of the newer Michal Prokop & Framus Five albums, to cooperate. There was no doubt about Marcel's talent and the fact that he can adequately represent the genius of one of the best Czech guitarists, Luboš Andršt. So they continued the activities of the original Trio, but with the staffing, the repertoire also partially changed. It can therefore be said that the Trio took on a new dimension with Pavel.
Under the rhythm of Michal Prokop's guitar and vocals, Hrubý and Marcel take turns in solos, showing their extraordinary skill. Every listener will find something here. He will hear blues, rock, pop and elements of jazz. As fans and regular visitors to Michal Prokop's concerts already know, this is not an acoustic version of the Framus Five program. It is a completely separate program. Of course, the repertoire also includes some notorious gems such as Blues about swallowed words (or Cmeláčci). Due to the planned new album of the band Framus Five, which should be released next year, we can look forward to hearing some completely unknown songs, not only at the concerts of the band Framus Five, but maybe even in the acoustic version performed by the Trio.
