SANAM

Sanam is a Lebanese music group that was created in 2021 as a result of cooperation between musicians from Beirut alternative scene. Pascal Semerdjian (drums) and Marwan Tohme (guitar, electronics). Members of the band worked in various music projects such as Al Rahel Al Kabir, Postcards, Kinematik or Ovid. In its music it uses both traditional tools, such as buzq and modern electronics. The characteristic feature of their work is strong emphasis on improvisation, sound experimentation and cultural context, often supported by the use of Arab poetry and literary texts. The album received positive responses for its novel processing and a significant connection of various genre and cultural strata. In the same year, the band released a live recording live at café Oto , which was created during their concert at the London club Café Oto as part of the European tour.
