Šimanský & Niesner

pairs of guitarists Jakub Šimanský and Tomáš NieSner are based on a genre called American primitivism, which since the age of 70 has been "filled" by guitar players such as John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Robbie Bash and Sandy Bull. He found an unconventional approach to tuning, rhythm and mantra repetition in spiritual music of Asian origin. The music of the Indian guru and the Sitar Ravi Shankar player has become a soundtrack to self -knowledge through psychedelic drugs for many young Americans, and for many young musicians it has become an important inspiration. Five decades later, the legacy of American primitivism is still alive, and Šimanský with Nuesner belongs to many of his followers. In our environment, he is enriched with Czech country folk romanticism. The band culminated in their cult status by issuing a farewell album and a series of strong final concerts. While Niesner held the guitars already in Unna, Šimanský in the band knocked out the rhythm and acquired the guitar play in the times of existential groping, when he practically lived in the room of his Přerov testing room. There he tirelessly, sometimes 10 hours a day, he practiced and saw his game following the example of John Fahey. On the domestic to everything enhanced by distinctive and tireless concerts. After dozens of troubador trips on all corners of the Republic, Šimanský summoned a former partner from UNNA NIESNER and together began to prepare material written for two guitars. After their first concert, which took place in the twisted Soulostel in the shortening of Verneřovice Soulostel in the summer of 2018, the couple went to David Zeman's home studio (from the band Kalle), where she recorded eight songs on the debut album unknown .
