About event
Lieder Society presents a musical-literary evening to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Oskar Nedbal as part of the Year of Czech Music celebrations.
Lieder Society presents a concert from the work of another jubilant this year - a composer famous especially for his operettas - Oskar Nedbal.
"Who doesn't know the melodies from Polish Blood or perhaps the ballet From a Fairy Tale to a Fairy Tale?"
Oskar Nedbal is mainly known for his light melodies, but his fate was turbulent and very stormy.
The organizers cordially invite you to a musical-literary evening, in which his two only song cycles and a sonata for violin and piano in B minor will be performed by the leading Czech soloist Roman Patočka, together with songs by his composition teacher Antonín Dvořák. You will get to know Oskar Nedbal's extraordinary life by reading his correspondence and other contemporary sources.
