About event

A sustainable Blue Economy in Germany-Future perspectives for fishing

The ocean is our most important habitat. The oceans are ecologically indispensable and at the same time rich in potential for sustainable added value. As part of the European Union, which has the world's largest exclusive economic zone, Germany is of particular responsibility to develop new, sustainable economic forms in the sea.

In particular, coastal fishing in North and Baltic Sea is under pressure. Climate change, overfishing and crises require new perspectives. Sustainable Blue Economy opens up opportunities: for the protection of marine habitats, for common good growth and for a modern job description of the fishermen. Against this background, the German Sea Foundation and the Planetarium Berlin Foundation invite you - with the support of the German Society for the United Nations. V. (DGVN) - warmly to the parliamentary sea evening.

As part of the parliamentary sea evening, we present the "Niendorfer explanation" - a commitment to further develop the fishing profession in the service of the common good. Together with representatives: Inside from politics, science, business and civil society, we discuss opportunities, challenges and specific options for action.
