The tourist information office of the city of Žilina invites you to a series called Wednesdays with history - guided tours with guide Michal Chudík.
We will see you next on Wednesday, May 13 at 5:00 p.m., when we will focus on industry in Žilina. We will start in the center of the city, with the building of the former steam power plant. We will continue to the first really large industrial enterprise, which was the Hungarian factory for woolen fabrics, military cloth and pokorce - in its time one of the most modern factories in Hungary. The factory continued the rich traditions of cloth making in the city. And from the Austro-Hungarian era, we will also visit the tar factory and the matchbox of the Wittenberg company. "Sirkáreň" employed more than 100 employees and produced 13 million boxes of matches annually. In addition, we will also remember the most important exhibition event of an economic nature in the history of the city of Žilina.
