The festival will open with a performance of Jirák's extensive song cycle The Year op. 42. The crystalline purity of Seifert's poems is supported in this work by a plastically composed, strongly expressive piano accompaniment. Jirák's songs will be put into the context of Janáček's captivating musical drama Zápisník zmíželého to illustrate his meaning. The irresistible Zefka will be the soloist of the National Theater in Prague, Michaela Zajmi, and Janíček will be the world-renowned tenor Aleš Briscein. Pavel Voráček will conduct the entire evening from the piano.
