Lukáš Vasilek
Lukáš Vasilek studied conducting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and Musicology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. Since 1998, he has been the choirmaster of Foerster's chamber choir, with which he won numerous awards at prestigious international competitions. In the years 2005–07, he was the second choirmaster of the opera choir of the Prague National Theatre, where he studied several opera titles (Hubička, Don Pasquale, La clemenza di Tito, etc.). Since 2007, he has been the principal choirmaster of the Prague Philharmonic Choir. His highly acclaimed work with this ensemble includes staging and conducting a wide repertoire of different stylistic periods, as well as making a number of recordings. Vasilek also works as an orchestral conductor and is the founder of the Martinů Voices chamber choir, with which he mainly performs the music of the 20th and 21st centuries.
