ČNSO & Prague Proms
The Czech National Symphony Orchestra (ČNSO) is a private symphony orchestra based in Prague.
The conductor of the orchestra is trumpeter Jan Hasenöhrl, who founded it together with conductor Zdenek Košler in 1993. The ČNSO regularly organizes subscription concerts in Prague and also performs on tour abroad. Currently, the ČNSO agency has also started organizing the summer music festival Prague Proms, which annually attracts the audience with a program and visiting world-renowned artists. Libor Pešek was appointed chief conductor of the orchestra at the beginning of 2007, since 2019 Steven Mercurio has been the conductor. Since the 2007/2008 season, the ČNSO has been giving concerts in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House in Prague. In 2016, the ČNSO orchestra recorded music by composer Ennio Morricone for Tarantino's film The Hateful Eight at London's Abbey Road studio. Morricone's music subsequently won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for 2016.
